This is your chance to create a new character, in a new role never before performed onstage!

Figure8Productions and Rising Sun Theatre are pleased to announce open auditions for roles in the upcoming production of Emperor Fabulous, an original dark comedy by Jamie Morris.

The production will have a run of four shows on Sat. and Sun. evenings, NOV 28 /29 and DEC 5 /6 at the Shakti Studio in Tokyo. Actors will be paid a stipend to cover their expenses.

There will be a cast reading in early OCT (TBA) and main rehearsals will be held through OCT and NOV (TBA based on cast/crew schedules etc).


THE PLAY:
Welcome to Gayle Crest Insane Asylum where drooling catatonics paint masterpieces and performance-artist savants reign supreme. When an ambitious writer shows up to uncover the truth behind a doctor's experiments in sensory deprivation and creativity, she discovers that art and insanity have become one in the same. What are the real stories behind the asylum's creative geniuses? What is creative genius anyways?

THE ROLES:
*All ages, nationalities and races are welcome, but only actors with a fluent and natural command of English will be considered.*

DARA BROOKS (female 20-30's)
A fast talking reporter. She will will let nothing stop her from getting her story - not even the facts!


HERNANDEZ (male 20-40's - for this role the actor must have movement and/or dance ability. Think Fred Astaire or Charlie Chapplin)
An autistic performance artist and new resident in Gayle Crest seeking fame with his "unique" movement and dance routines.

DR. GLEN (male 30+)
The morally flexible researcher and head psychologist of Gayle Crest who is running out of both funding and morals.


MANTZ: (40's this role has been cast)
A catatonic painter and resident at the asylum, with a secret; he's hell bent on becoming artist of the century!
