Yoshinaga Opens Two Solo Exhibitions in Tokyo...FIG 8 captures it all for the docu...

Yoshinaga Masayuki has been busy preparing and opening TWO solo exhibitions this month.  I've have been busy filming him.

"Chokkan"  ("Instinct") is a small but nice selection of some of his more famous bosozoku work here at Cashi until the end of May...

"Chokkan" incorporates some of his best and most intimate portraits as well as a few shots from bosozoku runs.

These photos are the main reason I first met Yoshi and then moved to Tokyo to complete the film.

...some mourn the fading popularity of tokkofuku uniforms and the defeaning bosozoku bikes...

For better or worse the bosozoku are all but gone and perhaps this documentary- and Yoshi's work- are really both eulogies.

"Group Portraits of Japan" is a large sampling of what he has amassed over the years featuring some 3,600 Japanese in group shots of various fringe cultures ranging from bosozoku, uyoku and Yakuza, to strippers and transvestites. This one, in Harajuku ends 5/24.

Here are some images from the opening reception for "Group Portraits of Japan."

Hazuki showed up, as well as many other contributors to Sayonara Speed Tribes.

Our congratulations goes out to Yoshinaga for his fine work and successful openings!

KEEP CHECKING BACK FOR INFO ON THE DOCU WHICH IS WELL INTO EDITING AND EXPECTED SOON.......
